How one-on-one physical therapy may help

Your physical therapist can reduce movement limitations, build strength and tolerance, and help you return to normal activity without relying on a generic protocol.

This information is educational and does not replace an individual evaluation or medical advice. Seek urgent medical care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Activities that may be difficult

Turning while driving, working at a computer, sleeping, lifting, reading, exercising, and looking up or down.

What the evaluation may examine

Neck and upper-back mobility, strength, nerve sensitivity, posture, shoulder function, and the movements that reproduce or relieve symptoms.

Treatment approaches may include

Hands-on mobility work

Progressive neck and shoulder strengthening

Postural and movement coaching

A practical home exercise plan

Postoperative rehabilitation

After cervical surgery, rehabilitation follows the surgeon’s precautions and gradually restores mobility, strength, endurance, and confidence with daily tasks.

Questions about this type of care

Can neck problems contribute to headaches?

They can. The evaluation looks for neck movement, muscle, posture, or activity factors that may contribute to symptoms.

Will treatment only focus on posture?

No. Posture may be one factor, but care also considers mobility, strength, sensitivity, work demands, and the activities that matter to you.
